Promotional advertising credits: What you need to know

Promotional advertising credits can help you expand your campaign strategies, while offering you opportunities to apply them to future advertising spend. But before they can help facilitate a wider reach and encourage more engagement, there are certain criteria you need to meet.

Here, you’ll gain a clear understanding of what they are, how (and when) they’re applied and how they can help your campaign.

What are promotional advertising credits?

Promotional advertising credits are free advertising funds provided to eligible Best Buy Marketplace sellers to help promote their products and increase visibility at BestBuy.com. These credits are applied directly to your My Ads account and can be used to run sponsored ad campaigns.

Promotional ad credits are applied to your account and automatically reduce the amount you owe for eligible ad spend. These credits will be available for use during a limited, specified promotional window.

Conditions for eligibility

Advertisers are eligible to receive promotional credits once the following conditions have been met:

  • You have onboarded your product catalog
  • You have set up your storefront
  • You have approved offers that are ready to be promoted

When promotional credits are added to your account:

  • Admins and campaign managers will receive an email notification confirming the credit has been applied.
  • Admins and campaign managers will see available credit amounts displayed throughout the platform, including during campaign setup.
  • Admins can view detailed credit information in the Billing tab of My Ads and in emailed invoices.

Please note: Before you can start spending against your promotional credit, you must have a credit card on file in your account. Ad credits are only applicable during the 90-day promotional period.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a seller eligible to receive a promotional credit?
You’re eligible to receive promotional credits when you have onboarded your product catalog, set up your storefront and have approved offers to promote. You must log in to My Ads to see your available credits.

How long are promotional credits valid?
Credits expire after the 90-day promotional period.

How do I start spending against promotional credits?
The promotional credit will be automatically added to your account and applied to any un-invoiced spend for sponsored products. If un-invoiced spending is greater than the promotional credits, then all credits are used.

Why am I required to have a credit card on file to use promotional credit?
Tax cannot be paid by promotional credit. Taxes on your delivered ad spend will be charged to the credit card on file.

How will I know when my promotional credits expire?
The credit expiration date will be displayed within the banner in My Ads.

Can I see expired and/or redeemed promotional credits?
Yes, you can view this information within the Billing tab in My Ads.
