Automated Keywords
Published Apr 25, 2025

Best Buy Ads has a self-learning keyword algorithm that will automatically collect and use highly relevant keywords for all advertised SKUs. If needed, you can also manually add keywords.

Benefits
  • Takes the guesswork out of choosing keywords when launching campaigns.
  • Ensures relevancy for customers and preserves a premium shopper experience.
  • Optimizers automatically distribute budgets among eligible, highest-performing keyword-SKU associations based on demand.

Manual Keyword Association Optimizations

Keywords can also be added or removed manually as needed.

Target Keywords = Automated Keyword Model (Based on associations built by AI) + Positive Keywords (Keywords can be added to the campaign brief to increase scale) – Negative Keywords (If a brand does not want to serve on a particular keyword)

Keyword Example
  1. A shopper visits BestBuy.com to shop for a camera.
  2. They enter “camera” in the search bar.
  3. The shopper looks at the organic results on the search page. They click on Camera A to view the product detail page.
  4. AI reviews the association, also checking Best Buy relevancy constraints, and key terms in the product description.
  5. AI validates the association. Camera A is now mapped to the “printer” keyword.
  6. Advertisers choose to sponsor that product in RMP to increase their sales. The product takes part in the retail media open auction for the “camera” keyword since it’s been flagged as relevant to this keyword. The Best Buy Ads engine then triggers the predictive algorithm, looks at the bid, and finally selects that product as the winner.
  7. Product A appears as a sponsored product on the search results page, under the “camera” keyword, for the right shoppers at the right time, increasing the likelihood of triggering higher conversion.
