Best Buy has been named to the JUST 100 list for the third year in a row, and we’re proud to be the top retailer on the 2023 list.
The JUST 100 list evaluates and ranks nearly 1,000 of the largest publicly traded companies in the U.S. on such issues as how a company invests in its workers, supports its communities and minimizes environmental impact.
JUST Capital and its partners compile the annual list by polling 3,000 Americans to identify issues they think companies should focus on most. Then companies are evaluated based on those priorities. This year, polling numbers showed that workers and wages are important and accounted for a large percentage of companies’ scores.
We believe our efforts to make a positive impact in the environmental, social and governance (ESG) area are not only the right thing to do, but are good for business.
Here are a few things Best Buy has done in the last year that have benefitted our employees, customers, communities, and the environment:
- We provide our employees and their families with a variety of resources to help make life less stressful and improve their well-being, particularly around childcare, mental health, and paid and parental leave. We also recently partnered with Joshin, a support system for disability and neurodivergence in the workplace and life.
- We combat pay gaps associated with gender or race through regular reviews of pay data, policies, practices and more.
- We’ve reduced our carbon emissions by 62% since 2009 and continue to prioritize sustainable programs such as our Standalone Haul Away Service, which keeps waste out of landfills.
- We prioritize building an inclusive culture for all employees and have been recognized for this work by Forbes, DiversityInc, the Disability Equality Index, Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index, Bloomberg, Newsweek and more.
