Before confirming a shipment, enter the correct tracking details. Once confirmed, our system will automatically notify the customer with their tracking number. Failure to provide or enter an accurate tracking number from an approved carrier may lead to customer dissatisfaction and potential incidents, and it may impact your account standing.

Note: Best Buy does not permit in-store order pickups, backorders or pre-orders. Your store can only ship from U.S.-based warehouse locations. If the product's shipping location originates outside the U.S., your store may receive an immediate suspension.

Entering Tracking Information for a Single Order

To enter tracking information and confirm your shipment for a single order, follow these step-by-step instructions:
 

  1. Log in to the Marketplace portal and navigate to Orders. Or, from the Dashboard, click View for orders awaiting shipment on the left-hand side of the page.

     

     
  2. Under Orders, use the menu at the top to filter to Awaiting shipment.



     
  3. Click on the order you wish to ship.



     
  4. On the Order page, click Add tracking information.



     
  5. A popup will appear to enter tracking details.

    • Select a carrier from the dropdown list and enter the tracking number in the corresponding fields.
    • Orders must be shipped by one of the carriers listed, and you must select the corresponding carrier in the platform to avoid any negative impact on your Tracking Rate Metric.
       
  6. Check the box labeled Mark this shipment as shipped, then click Add to save your tracking information. The order will be updated from awaiting shipment to shipped.

Entering tracking information for an order with multiple units

If a customer purchases several items from your store, you may choose to ship individually or consolidate shipments.

  1. From the Orders section, select the order you wish to ship.
  2. At the top right, click the “…” and select Divide shipment.
  3. From there, you can specify how many units will be in each shipment, specify the warehouse origin, select the carrier(s), enter tracking information, and confirm the shipment.

Note: You are unable to divide a single unit into multiple shipments. If you have products that ship in multiple boxes, review the Important notes about tracking information section below.

Entering tracking information for multiple orders

To enter tracking information and confirm your shipment for multiple orders, follow these step-by-step instructions:
 

  1. Log in to the Marketplace portal and navigate to Orders. You can do so through the Dashboard or the menu on the left-hand side of the page.
     
  2. Under Orders, select View beside orders awaiting shipment.
     
  3. Locate Awaiting shipment in the filter bar at the top of the page.
     
  4. On the Order page, download the order numbers by selecting Export. Within the dropdown menu, select Orders. Choose a file format for download.
     
  5. After shipping your orders, select Import Shipment Confirmation File.



     
  6. Download the Excel template to upload tracking numbers for multiple orders by selecting the Downloading an Excel template icon below the Help section.



     
  7. Enter required tracking details:

    • Order number
    • Carrier code (select from drop-down list)


       
    • Tracking number
       
  8. Upload the completed CSV file to the File import page.
     
  9. Click on the Import button to save.
Important Notes About Tracking Information
  • The Best Buy Marketplace Platform allows only one tracking number entry per item.
     
  • An item is considered shipped once the tracking number is saved.
     
  • Only confirm the shipment if tracking information is available. If no tracking information is available in the system, the customer will get an error when attempting to click on their tracking information.
     
  • If you enter the tracking number incorrectly, the customer will receive the incorrect information in their shipment confirmation notification email and will be unable to track the shipment.

    • Updating the tracking information after confirming the shipment will not process nor generate a notification to the customer.
    • If this happens, you should message the customer to share the accurate tracking number.
       
  • If you accept an order and later discover an inventory level discrepancy, you should promptly issue a refund.
     
  • If your shipment exceeds parcel size limits, see Ship and Deliver Large Items for more information.
     
  • Large products with multiple pieces, such as furniture and exercise equipment, may require multiple tracking numbers. If you need to ship an order in multiple boxes, be aware of the following:

    • We recommend messaging the customer to proactively share how many boxes to expect and any additional tracking numbers at the time of shipment.
    • If multi-piece shipments are delivered at different times, the customer may reach out via messaging or open an incident. You must respond to all messages and incidents within one business day. 
    • For United States Postal Service and UPS only: You can enter a comma (without spaces) between the tracking numbers to generate one tracking URL for the customer:
       
      • Select Carrier: United States Postal Service
      • Tracking Number: 926xxxxxxxxxxxxx269,926 xxxxxxxxxxxxx086
      • Tracking URL will auto generate: XXX
      • Check box Mark this shipment as shipped
      • Click Add
      • Select Carrier: UPS
      • Tracking Number: 1Z1xxxxxxxxxxx77,1Z1 xxxxxxxxxxx43
      • Tracking URL will auto generate: XXX
      • Check box Mark this shipment as shipped
      • Click Add
         
    • With FedEx, you may be able to use multiweight pricing. Work with FedEx to activate this feature on your shipping account. Once activated, it compares the total cost of sending multiple shipments versus treating all packages as a single shipment. FedEx will provide a tracking number for each individual package and a master tracking number for the combined shipment. You should input the master tracking number to Mirakl when you use FedEx multiweight to ship a Best Buy Marketplace item.
