Configuring your shipping settings in Mirakl allows you to create competitive and enticing customer offers. You’ll set delivery times for each regional shipping zone, utilize multiple shipping methods and assign products to varying logistics classes to enable flexible delivery expectations and appropriate shipping charges across an entire assortment.
Overview of shipping settings
Shipping charges are the cost paid by the customer when placing the order. They’re defined across shipping zones, shipping methods and logistic classes.
Shipping zones
Predefined geographical groups, from entire regions to specific states. This allows you to set your standard ground delivery times appropriately and accurately based on your warehouse locations. Reference Exhibit B to see which U.S. states are included in each zone.
Shipping methods
Enable additional shipping service levels such as Next Day, Two Day or LTL delivery that you can reliably offer. At minimum, standard shipping is required for all zones.
Logistic classes
Categorize products based on shipping size or weight.
Best Buy has defined seven logistics classes to provide flexibility for accurate shipping charges across wide assortments with products that vary in size and weight. See Exhibit C for more details.
A default logistics class is assigned to each product category. If your product doesn’t fit into the logistics class chosen by Best Buy for the category, you can change it when setting up your offers. See instructions for Changing the default logistics class by offer in Exhibit C.
Shipping charges
Set costs associated with shipping, adjustable for each zone, shipping method and logistic classes. A default price is applied for all zones, which you can adjust or offer free shipping to customers.
Note: Shipping settings may be mandatory or optional. This setup ensures efficient and reliable shipping management for your products. For more detailed information, you can refer to Mirakl’s help documentation on shipping configuration.
Configuring shipping charges by zone and available methods
Go to Settings > Shipping > Shipping Charges
Expand each zone by pressing the “+” to see enabled shipping methods by zone and default shipping charges for each logistic class.
To adjust shipping methods available for each zone, select the zone, and click More Actions > Edit Methods.
A minimum of Standard service is required for most zones. You can add additional shipping services such as Two Day, Next Day, or Home Delivery – LTL.
Repeat in each applicable zone.
To change your shipping charges by zone & logistics class, edit the Initial price and Additional price in the Details section.
If you want to offer free shipping, update the Charges dropdown from Fixed price to Free shipping. You can set this for entire zones, select shipping methods or specific logistic classes within a zone and shipping method.
If a shipping zone is optional, you can disable it using the More actions dropdown.
Any shipping charges that differ from Best Buy’s default will be shown in blue.
For example, this seller increased the price for the entire zone of Alaska / Hawaii and increased the price further on Large Items and Extra Large items.
If you're using additional shipping methods such as Next Day or Two Day, you can set unique charges for each shipping method and logistic class.
Configuring shipping options
Within Shipping Settings, click Shipping Options to set your Lead time to ship, order cut-off times, and more.
Default lead time to ship
If not set, Best Buy’s default Lead time to ship of one day will apply. Please note that Best Buy allows a maximum of two days for lead time to ship.
To increase to two days, enter 2 and click Save.
Note: If most products ship same day, but select products require a longer lead time to ship, you can change the lead time to ship when setting up offers. The maximum of two days still applies.
Order cut-off time
If not set, Best Buy’s default cut-off time of 12:00 PM will apply for all shipping methods.
Note: Cut-off times should always be entered in Central Time.
If your store’s shipping cut-off(s) differ, you must edit for each shipping method.
For example, an expedited service may have its last pickup/drop-off time earlier in the day. You'll need to update the cut-off time to the latest time your store can effectively receive an order and prepare for shipment in time for carrier pickup/drop-off.
Shipping options
In this section, you can customize your expected delivery time by shipping zone. Best Buy’s default of five days will apply if a custom time is not set.
Click Edit to update a shipping zone’s delivery time.
Set your delivery time for each shipping zone and shipping method combination.
Note: Your minimum and maximum delivery times should be the same value for the most accurate offer, see the example below. Using a “3-5 day” range may lead to inaccurate delivery dates and customer disappointment, as the largest value of the range will be surfaced to customers.
Example: 3 Day Transit Time
Carriers
Add the carriers your store works with. You can add any carrier approved in Best Buy’s program, listed in the dropdown menu.
Click Add carrier.
Select or search for the carrier(s) you intend to use.
For example, UPS:
The carrier name, standard code, operator custom code, and tracking URL will be pre-populated for most carriers.
Click Add.
Warehouses
Warehouse information is used to determine shipping origins.
You should set up a warehouse for each location you'll ship products from.
If you have multiple warehouses, you can set one as your default.
Your default warehouse cannot be deleted.
Exhibit A: Shipping grid example
In the below example, a Seller located in the Northeast updates their Delivery time by Shipping zone to represent the accurate days for delivery. We recommend offering a faster date to customers located closer to your warehouse and adjusting delivery time as you get further away.
The seller then updates the Shipping Charges for each Logistics Class they use by Zone, accounting for less expensive shipping to nearby Zones. Multiple Logistics Classes are available to allow sellers to define the Shipping Charges needed for variations in size and weight in assortments.
