Updated Refurbished Product Process

Published 10/21/2026

Hello Partners,

We’ve recently provided updates about the changes that have been taking place with our refurbished product experience. If you are a regular in the PDM Newsroom, you will have seen numerous updates. We then spent time going over the details in the September PDM webinar, though you were not able to see how it looked on BestBuy.com.

Below is a brief review of the Why behind the changes, as well as a link to the Partner Portal page that has been created, which contains our standards for refurbished products, the standards we have created for each of the specific conditions (Premium, Excellent, and Good), and the requirements for specific categories.

We have also provided links to the site for an item that is Refurbished-Excellent and another that is Refurbished-Good, so that you can see how it looks on the PDP. The Why?

Best Buy is evolving beyond a single refurbished condition by introducing multiple refurbished condition tiers across applicable categories. These condition tiers will provide customers with greater choice while creating clearer expectations around product quality and value. Along with these new condition offerings, Best Buy is implementing category-specific standards and customer-facing experience enhancements that will improve the way refurbished products are listed, discovered, evaluated, and purchased. The full details can be found within the link below. **

Implementation Timing

Early September: New conditions go live. Existing refurbished and pre-owned listings migrated to the new conditions and linked to their new-in-box counterpart for Universal Product Card treatment

  • All the old conditions have been removed, and the refurbished items on the site should now reflect the new conditions.

  • The updates are now live on the site, and below are examples of how they will show up on the PDP (Product Detail Page) for a couple of the conditions (see links below).

What This Means for Vendors

  • Faster Product Setup: New condition definitions, warranty requirements, and shared product data will remove the need for vendors to provide secondary-market-specific product data, allowing for faster product setup.

  • Expanded Selling Opportunities: Vendors will be able to offer products across multiple refurbished condition tiers (where approved), enabling broader assortment strategies and access to more customer segments.

  • Improved Visibility of Refurbished Products: Enhanced discovery experiences will help customers more easily find, evaluate, and purchase refurbished products.

Benefits for Customers

These enhancements are designed to provide customers with:

  • More refurbished options across different condition levels and price points.

  • Clearer information about product condition, functionality, accessories, and warranty coverage.

  • A more intuitive shopping experience that makes refurbished products easier to discover, compare, and purchase with confidence.
